What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach to understanding human conduct and helping to solve personal and social problems. In most cases, assessment or environmental analysis is conducted prior to treatment to determine the nature and scope of the problem.

Human actions are multi-causal— there are more than one cause for our behavior, and our actions change under specific circumstances. Some reasons for change are simple, others complex. ABA helps to discover the interconnections between our actions and the environment by examining the influencing world around us.

ABA is compatible with other approaches, for example, medicine. Changing one’s lifestyle can have significant effects on general health. Collaboration is common between ABA and other treatment modalities.
